Hasty Pudding

"They ate this everyday?!"

Keep stirring.

So excited to try it!

We are learning about the colonial times for history. We are also listening to "Yankee Doodle" as part of our folk song study. There's a part in Yankee Doodle where they sing "they were as thick as hasty pudding." So today we were instructed to make hasty pudding by boiling 2 cups of milk and adding 1/2 cup of corn meal, stirring constantly. We read how the colonists would have this most everyday as at least one, if not all meals for the day. Abigail was super excited to try it (I think the word "pudding" was a big reason for this). She had 1 and a half spoonfuls and decided that she could not survive being a colonist!

Field trip to the corn maze

Every picture I tried to get of them standing on top of the hay stacks, it always looked like Abigail was trying to throw Alex off.

One of the ladies in our homeschool group owns Jones' Orchards and allowed our group to go through the corn maze for free.

I swear she didn't throw him off but, the way she's standing suggests that she won somekind of gladiator contest!

Topsail Island

me: "Act like you love each other."

Eric's Master Chief pinning ceremony

Definitely the star of this show

Admiral Quinn was upstaged by Alex who almost went up to the microphone during the Admiral's speech. Some of the chief's in attendance in the back made the remark that there was no denying that Alex was Eric's son.

He really must of had ants in his pants because he did not sit during the entire ceremony.

South Carolina

One good thing about homeschooling is being able to pick up and go when we want. We went this past April to my aunt's house in South Carolina.
The kids favorite part of the trip - definitely the golf carts!

The town of Springfield definitely has the best park ever!

We're back in business!

Climbing a tree in our backyard this spring.

Making snowangels last winter.

Finally visiting Graceland last Christmas.

Here we are at the Memphis Fire Museum 9/2009.
